About

Magda Vacariu is a Romanian artist who lives in Brasov. Vacariu was guided by great Australian artists Robert Hannaford and Chris Orchard She studied painting at Adelaide Central School of Art Australia, and she got an MA in Visual Arts at George Enescu University of Fine Arts Iasi Romania. Vacariu exhibited in New York, London, Sydney, etc. and her works are held in numerous collections across the globe. Vacariu is an Australian citizen, but decided to return to her birth country, where she founded an art school for adults, teaching many generations of young artists, and gathering an artists community around the school. Vacariu is a member of UAP Romania and of South Australian Living Artists.

Magda’s works are mainly portraits, but her art is much more than portraiture. Her works though often inspired by real subjects, are not a portrayal of the subjects, but talk about what is universal for all human beings, love and human connection, things which the artist believes that are able to transform people, and also the entire world. Vacariu’s art is about that something in each of us which is eternal and infinite, that something which flows through everything and everyone, and keeps us togeheter. Beyond her painted figures is the soul searching of the artist and her own process of self discovery.
